Bonjour Friends- I have been practicing yoga for over 15 years. This is a photo taken when I opened my first studio in 2013. A lot has changed since then, including our name, our location, the color of my hair, and a few other things, but this photo reminds me of what following a dream can become. One of my favorite people took me to my first yoga class after a foot injury sidelined me from my usual stress releases. I was hooked instantly and began "craving" the connection I was learning to make between my body and my mind. Through Yoga I was able to not only heal several physical injuries, but also emotional ones. I was able to "let go" of apologies never received and find peace with things that had challenged me. In short, I found myself again! This led me on a journey where I obtained my first 200 HR certification in 2012 and an additional 200 HR certification in 2015. I have committed myself to remaining a student of this practice and have earned my 500 E-RYT certification. I was fortunate to study under and learn from instructors who had inspired me along the way.- Briohny Smyth and Dice Lida Klein. My desire to teach came from wanting to help others to feel comfortable in their own bodies again. To feel the sense of calm a movement practice can bring to the body and mind. To understand self-acceptance is a necessary beginning and the best gift you can give yourself. Honestly, I wanted to help people let go of whatever was holding them back. This desire is the root of my teaching style. I'm also a Practitioner of Yoga Tune Up Ball Therapy and am a certified teacher with the Veterans Yoga Project. One of my children is currently serving in one of our military branches and this honor has led to this studio's mission... He believes in me more than I believe in myself at times. He knows I need this and he helped me (okay, I helped him) build this studio. Twice, well, now three times. I am "Mom" to two amazing kiddos. I could talk about them for hours so I will leave it at that one sentence and this one word....LOVE! Like you I have several other roles in this life.... Right now, I am working on staying true to who I am today. I am currently in the process of earning my Pilates mat certification and look forward to offering this style soon. I also intend on offering a teacher certification program starting Fall 2025. See you on your mat, e |
